To The Tardis We're Going To 1986a or NCAA Time Takes Me Back To 1986

I have been meaning to write about snap shots in my life for a long time. Thinking

about time and years as they passed makes me feel like I missed many moments of importance and would give anything to get those moments back. Hence my tardis.

I don't promise to write about these in order or even to write about them at all. The Doctor doesn't travel in only one direction in time and neither will I.

Here are the important years: 1977, 1978, 1981, 1982, 1983 , 1985 1986, 1987, 1988, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007

1986

This morning I heard that Cleveland State is going to the big dance again.  I remember the last time they went to the tourney.  It was in March 1986.  My friends and I were planning our spring break trip to Fort Lauderdale. First we had to watch Indiana beat Cleveland State on TV.  Not! IU lost and don't let any tell you that people forget the loses.  Here are my top 4 Indiana games when I was a student:

1 . 1984 NCAA Sweet Sixteen Indiana 72 North Carolina 68

2.  1985 Big Ten Season Indiana 63  Purdue 72

3.  1983 NCCA Sweet Sixteen: Indiana 59  Kentucky  64

4.  1986 NCAA First Round: Indiana 79  Cleveland State 83

After that disappointing loss, we loaded up the van and we drove to Florida.    A trip that was accented with cases of Busch Beer, beach volley ball and Cap'n Crunch with beerfor breakfast. Nobody cared about basketball after breakfast anyway.

'86 was the summer I spent several years in New York!

Randal, I had a feeling that you would comment on this one.

March '86? I was suffering through my second semester of college calculus and wondering how it (calculus) could be simultaneously incredibly elegant and frustrating beyond belief.

What's basketball? Hockey is the only true sport.

I wish I had calculus in 1986. I had completed all my calc my then and was taking complex variables - yikes - i can't remember much.
